Key Terms ... Composition: is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the subject of a work. It can also be thought of as the organization of the elements of art according to the principles of art. Value: Element of design that defines the light and darks in an artwork. Pen Drawing Pros: In my pen drawing I choose to do stippling because I thought it was the most simple and the drawings look more realistic. Cons: Since we are drawing the image with pen ounce you draw something you cant go back and change it at all and stippiling takes the longest time because you only mark it with numerous small dota or specks. Charcoal Drawing Pros: Charcoal can be really helpful when you make a mistake and you can just rub your finger against it and it blends it out untill the mark is completely gone. Cons: Using charcoal can get really messy and is very fragile because it is very simple to blend out and erase your drawing. Pencil Drawing Pros: You can get very creative in your drawing and use a lot of shades and shapes in it. Cons: The pencil drawing can smudge more and is not as releastic as the pen drawing. Warm Ups ...
For me the most helpful warm up is the upsidedown Picasso drawing and also the sign language A. The upsidedown Picasso drawing made me think differently than usual and I learned to see lines in relationship to each other, rather than as preconceived shapes. The sign language A helped me practice drawing by just looking at my hand and add small details also I practiced how to add value and have some light and darks.
