20 Inspirational Images In-Progress Piece Finished Piece For my Two-In-One project I decided to combine a turtle and a pineapple together. The medium I decided to use was watercolor and color pencils. First, I drew the turtle and the pineapple in a watercolor piece of paper. Then, I painted the turtle brown and the pineapple yellow. Lastly, I added all the small details with color pencils to make it more realistic.
By: Ruby Acevedo Block 1 My favorite media was the color pencil and the stippling sphere because I was able to add more details to make it more realistic. My least favorite media was the chalk pastel because it took me a long time to finish and it was hard to blend out and it got really messy.
By: Ruby Acevedo Color Swatches Question: Was it hard to mix the color swatches? Why or why not? Answer: It was not that hard to mix the color swatches as long as you knew which colors to combine, because if you mixed the wrong colors you would get a totally different color. It was simple after you got the desired color because all you had to do was add white until it became lighter. Question: How do you make the color brown? Answer: Their are multiple ways to make brown. I decided to combine the three primary colors together (Red, Yellow, And Blue). Once you combine them you get a brownish color and from there you can add white or black to make it lighter or darker. Complementary Color Painting Question: What did you pick to paint and why? Answer: I picked to paint a photo of a landscape because I thought it would be fun to combine the colors together and change them around based on using the complementary colors orange and blue. Key Terms ... Composition: is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the subject of a work. It can also be thought of as the organization of the elements of art according to the principles of art. Value: Element of design that defines the light and darks in an artwork. Pen Drawing Pros: In my pen drawing I choose to do stippling because I thought it was the most simple and the drawings look more realistic. Cons: Since we are drawing the image with pen ounce you draw something you cant go back and change it at all and stippiling takes the longest time because you only mark it with numerous small dota or specks. Charcoal Drawing Pros: Charcoal can be really helpful when you make a mistake and you can just rub your finger against it and it blends it out untill the mark is completely gone. Cons: Using charcoal can get really messy and is very fragile because it is very simple to blend out and erase your drawing. Pencil Drawing Pros: You can get very creative in your drawing and use a lot of shades and shapes in it. Cons: The pencil drawing can smudge more and is not as releastic as the pen drawing. Warm Ups ...
For me the most helpful warm up is the upsidedown Picasso drawing and also the sign language A. The upsidedown Picasso drawing made me think differently than usual and I learned to see lines in relationship to each other, rather than as preconceived shapes. The sign language A helped me practice drawing by just looking at my hand and add small details also I practiced how to add value and have some light and darks. Dina Brodsky was born in Minsk, Belarus, in 1981. Her family immigrated to the US in 1990. She graduated from high school and started college just before she turned 18. Dina studied painting and was educated at University of Massachusetts Amherst and New York Academy of Art. She lives and works in New York City. Dina has taught privately, and in several institutions, including the Brookline Center for the Arts and most recently the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dina Brodsky works with a variety of tints and shades of colorful paints. She uses paint and paintbrushes. What makes her work inspiring to me is how she can paint miniature in a very small area and also how she paints environments in her palettes. I love how colorful and detailed her paintings are. http://dinabrodsky.com/ |
